1 Dead in Goshen Twp. Fire

A fire claimed the life of one person late Saturday in Goshen Township.

Firefighters from Damascus received the call of a house fire just before midnight on Pricetown Road, Goshen Township.

Heavy smoke was showing when firefighters arrived on scene with heavy fire coming from the basement.

According to reports, the homeowner, David Kidd, met firefighters in the driveway and told them his son was still in the basement.

Firefighters attempted to enter the house but were pushed back by heat and heavy smoke pouring from the house.

After working to tamper the flames, crews entered the house and found the body of Justin Kidd, 20, in the basement.

Robin Kidd, 44, David Kidd, 45, and Brandon Kidd, 20, were not injured.

The state Fire Marshal has not determined a cause but an electrical fire has not been ruled out.

Green Township and Beloit fire companies assisted Damascus on scene.
