Polish Youngstown taught its popular pierogi recipe to sold out classes on Sunday.
The organization taught two sold out classes on making the popular Polish national dish at St. Stephens of Hungary Church.
The class is taught about every six months, but because of its popularity, this is the second class in two months.
Class instructors said many people participate to carry on family traditions.
“They weren’t paying attention when mom or grandma were making it so now they’re regretting it and we’re teaching them how to do it,” said class instructor Tad Siembida.
The dish is taught the traditional way with potatoes and cottage cheese, but the group also includes cheddar cheese options and even offers a sweet filling with prunes.
