2 charged in slaying of youth at Philly playground

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities have charged two men with murder in a shooting at a west Philadelphia playground that killed one teenager and injured two others earlier this month.

Police said 20-year-old Jaquan Jordan and 18-year-old Stanley Postell were originally charged with weapons offenses following the April 11 shooting at Tustin Playground near Overbrook High School.

Authorities said Monday that the charges had been upgraded to murder and related offenses in the death of 17-year-old Bernard Scott, a sophomore at the high school.

Investigators have said a fistfight preceded the gunfire that also critically injured another 17-year-old youth and sent an 18-year-old to the hospital.

Postell’s attorney declined comment Monday and Jordan’s attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
