Pa. man jailed after chase in stolen truck tractor

DUNCANSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania man has been jailed on charges he stole a truck tractor then led police on a high-speed chase into a neighboring county.

Police say the truck tractor was stolen from Burchfield Truck Sales near Duncansville, Blair County. But the suspect, 35-year-old Leonard Ellis, of Mount Union wasn’t arrested until several miles later in Smithfield Township in Huntingdon County after a chase along U.S. Route 22.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Ellis who remained in the Huntingdon County Jail on Monday on charges of receiving stolen property, reckless endangerment and fleeing or eluding police plus 16 traffic citations.

Police are still searching for another man seen driving a car that dropped off Ellis at the truck dealership where the rig was stolen.

Ellis faces a preliminary hearing May 7.
