Pittsburgh bishop upset over half-naked Pope spoof

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh’s Catholic bishop is calling on a city university to take action against a student who marched naked from the waist down and passed out condoms while dressed as the Pope during a parade organized by the school’s arts department.

Carnegie Mellon University spokesman Ken Walters does not dispute Bishop David Zubik’s assertion that the woman also had her pubic hair shaved in the shape of a cross, and says school officials are still reviewing the incident. The diocese learned of the parade, known as the Anti-Gravity Downhill Derby, from pictures last week. The event occurred April 18.

Bishop Zubik tells KDKA-TV (http://cbsloc.al/10QhrXK ), which first reported the dispute on Tuesday, “I think we all know that when we’re growing up we do stupid things, but to cross over the line in this instance shouldn’t happen with anybody.”
