Alliance Man Arrested for Child Porn

MISSING-PERSON-COPS-SEARCH-POLICE-INVESTIGATION

An Alliance man who already is a registered sex offender is being held at the Stark County Jail on child pornography charges after a raid at his home on Friday.

Alliance police detectives and agents with the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at 2217 S. Arch Ave. following a two-week investigation into child pornography, according to police. During the raid, police seized several computers, hard drives and other computer equipment, as well as photos and videos depicting children in sexually explicit poses.

Steven F. Slimak, 42, was charged with one count each of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and pandering obscenity involving a minor. Police said both charges are elevated to third-degree felonies because of Slimak’s previous conviction in 2002 on charges of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, pandering sexually oriented material and sexual imposition.

He was arraigned in Alliance Municipal Court, where his bond was set at $250,000. He is due back in court May 10 for a preliminary hearing.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
