Car hits horse-and-buggy in central Pa.; 2 hurt

EPHRATA, Pa. (AP) — Police say two people are hurt after a vehicle rear-ended a horse-and-buggy in central Pennsylvania.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. Friday in Ephrata. WGAL-TV reports ( ) police say the car’s driver was reaching for his cellphone at the time of the crash.

Two people in the buggy were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. The horse died.

The vehicle’s driver has been cited for careless driving and wasn’t hurt.
