Freshman Imani Donadelle tossed a two-hitter in East’s 14-1 victory over Mathews’ JV team this afternoon. Donadelle struck out five Mustangs while facing nineteen batters in five innings of work.
Trailing 1-0 entering the third frame, the Panthers senior shortstop Mike Gregory doubled scoring Jeremy Woodberry and Brandon Jackson. Joe Ingram followed Gregory’s extra base hit with one of his own to give East a 4-1 lead after three. In the fourth inning, Josiah Douglas led off with a double of his own. He was driven in by Woodberry. Following an intentional walk of Gregory, Joe Ingram belted a two-run single to extend the Panthers’ lead to 8-1.
East finished with a season-high 14 hits. The Panther defense did not commit a single error during the course of the contest. Brandon Jackson, Jeremy Woodberry and Mike Gregory all had three hits a piece. Woodberry stole two bases and Gregory hit his second double of the season.
During the doubleheader, Joe Ingram closed out the day by accumulating 7 RBIs.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Mustangs edged East, 14-13. Angelo Freed belted a three-run double for Mathews’ JV squad. Brandon Omerzo also had two-hits including a double.
The Panthers (1-11) will play at Heartland Christian on Monday.
