Body found during search for missing woman, 83

WASHINGTON (AP) — Searchers looking for an 83-year-old woman who went missing after arriving at a Washington airport from Barbados have found a body near the airport.

U.S. Park Police spokesman Paul Brooks says a body was found Monday afternoon on land at Gravelly Point, not far from Reagan National Airport. But there is no confirmation that the body is that of the missing woman, Victoria Kong.

She was last seen Friday evening leaving the airport on foot, walking north along a paved trail for hikers and bicycles.

Kong’s family says they were waiting for her to be escorted off the flight by wheelchair, but she never showed up. Granddaughter Alexandria Anderson says Kong is showing some early signs of dementia.
