Coroner probes death of man found in Pa. river

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — A coroner is still investigating what caused the death of a man whose body was found by kayakers in a river in central Pennsylvania last week.

Blair County Coroner Patricia Ross has identified the victim as 28-year-old Dominic R. Balzano. His body was found in the Little Juniata River in Snyder Township on Thursday. Ross says an autopsy was performed Friday and there was no water in his lungs; the cause of death wasn’t immediately known.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death.

Ross says investigators are awaiting the results of a toxicology report and further findings by a pathologist to determine what killed Balzano. She says the body was in the water less than 24 hours before it was discovered.
