Dinosaur skeleton to be repatriated to Mongolia

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. authorities in New York plan to repatriate a 70-million-year-old nearly complete Tyrannosaurus skeleton to the Mongolian government.

Authorities say the skeleton was looted from the Gobi Desert and illegally smuggled into the U.S. It was seized by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in New York.

Mongolian officials plan to join ICE Director John Morton and U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara (buh-RAH’-ruh) at Monday’s repatriation ceremony.
