Several police agencies in Trumbull County partnered with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to conduct a two-day “Shield Detail” to address traffic and criminal violations and apprehend felons.

According to a news release, nearly 900 traffic stops were conducted during the detail. During the operation, 18 drivers were arrested for OVI and 39 seatbelt violations were issued. Officers seized marijuana, cocaine, crack and prescription narcotics which resulted in 21 arrests, the release stated.

“These results are a great example of the significant impact law enforcement can make when they combine resources to support the common goal of ‘shielding’ a community from criminals and aggressive behavior,” said OSHP Lt. Brian Holt.
