Woman killed, man hurt in Philly home invasion

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia police say a woman is dead and her husband is hurt after a home invasion in northeast Philadelphia.

Investigators say it happened at the couple’s home around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Police say the suspect apparently broke in through a rear window and assaulted the couple, both 74 years old.

Police say the man and the woman were both taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries from the assault, but the woman died. The man is being treated for wounds to his head and neck. Their names were not released.

Detectives say a man has been arrested in the case, but his identity wasn’t immediately known.
