The second candidate vying to be Youngstown State University president spent Monday on campus.
A reception was held Monday at Stambaugh Stadium for Dr. James Moran III. He currently works for the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and is a past president of Edinboro University.
His plans if he gets the job is to continue YSU’s partnership with the city as well as the Innovation Center.
He said he also wants to take a look at how the university moves students toward graduation.
“Its just not enough for students to start at the university,” said Moran. “Students have to be able to move thru the university and obtain a meaningful credential quality education that positions themselves not after five days of graduation, after five years of graduation but 15 and 50 years after graduation.”
The final candidate will be in town on Wednesday.
The YSU trustees set a meeting for Friday to possibly hire a new president.
