Air Reservist Commander Visits Veterans Court

Veterans court visit
Col. James Dignan, commander of the 910th Airlift Wing, visited the Veterans Treatment Court in Youngstown on Wednesday.

The new commander of the 910th Airlift Wing at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna is making his rounds in the community.

On Wednesday, Col. James Dignan took a trip to Judge Robert Milich’s courtroom in Youngstown to see what the Veterans Treatment Court is and to see how it works with area veterans. The Veterans Court allows those returning from active duty to get the legal help they need if they get in trouble with the law.

Col. Dignan said it’s important to know how the Valley operates.

“Being a reserve base we are part of and we draw from the local community. And being the fourth largest employer in the Valley, it’s important to get out and let people know what we do at the air base,” Dignan said.

He is hoping to let people  know how sequestration is affecting them locally,  including unpaid furlough days, cuts in flying time and airplane reductions at the Vienna Air Reserve Station.
