Ohio man sentenced in attacks on 2 females

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A 23-year-old central Ohio man has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for attacking two females last year — including the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Twenty-three-year-old Zakery Neldon was sentenced Tuesday in Newark after accepting a plea agreement with Licking County prosecutors.

Authorities say Neldon attacked a 44-year-old woman in July. She said she went to police after seeing Neldon’s face on TV following his arrest in the rape of a 15-year-old Newark High School student in the fall.

Prosecutors said the plea agreement keeps the victims from having to testify.

The 44-year-old victim — who prior to the attack had invited Neldon into her house for a glass of water during a power outage — faced him in court, saying, “I pray that God helps you.”
