Bicyclist Killed in Crash
A Green Township man was killed while riding his bike Friday afternoon.

A Green Township man was killed Friday afternoon as he was heading out of his driveway for a bike ride.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said J.R. Hollobaugh, 53, was attempting to pull out of his driveway on Pine Lake Road around 3:30 p.m. when he was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado heading westbound on the road. The Silverado was driven by Boe Endicott, 25, also of Salem.

The patrol said there was no posted speed limit sign on the stretch of Pine Lake Road where the accident occurred, so it is treated as a 55 mph zone.

Hollobaugh later died at Salem Community Hospital. Endicott was not injured, the patrol said.

The crash still is under investigation.
