Youngstown firefighters responded to a blaze on the city’s West Side Saturday.

Calls went out shortly after 7 p.m. for smoke billowing from a vacant home on Milton Avenue.

Neighbors said the people who owned the home did have items stored inside, but were not living there.

A nearby neighbor was sitting on her porch when the fire broke out.

“I didn’t really notice at first until a car stopped here and said are you calling 9-1-1? So, I look up and I see black smoke, so I called 9-1-1,” said Ashley Rothemberger.

No one was injured.

Officials said no utilities were turned on in the home, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
