Sunday was a day of remembrance for families in the Valley who have lost children.
Gianna’s Light, a non-profit organization, hosted the balloon release at Greasel Park .
The Mother’s Day event was held in honor of families who have lost babies to stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage or neonatal death.
This is was the first year for the event. Organizers said it’s nice to spend the day with others who understand how they’re feeling.
“I thought it would be a good thing to bring together other families who’ve also lost children so we can come together on this day and be acknowledged as mothers because we still are mothers even though are babies aren’t here with us,” said organizer Sherri Horvat.
Gianna’s Light was founded in memory of Gianna Horvat who was stillborn in 2009.
