Youngstown Man Fatally Shot

A Youngstown man was fatally shot and his 76-year-old mother was shot in the leg on Sunday.

Police said Robert Vanderpool, 37, was shot in the shoulder after midnight Sunday at 3337 Loveland Road. He later died.

According to police reports, 76-year-old Rosemary Vanderpool heard Robert yell “I’m dying mom.” She went to the door and was shot in the leg. The bullet was shot through the door.

She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Police found a casing in the front yard and a portion of a magazine on the porch. Two marijuana plants were also discovered in the basement of the home.

No one has been arrested in connection with the shooting.
