Fitch Named Champion Boys Coach

Ryan Fitch was named the varsity boys basketball coach for Champion High School on Monday at the Board of Education meeting. He is replacing Doug Foster who coached the previous two years.

Fitch is a 1995 graduate of Champion High School and is thrilled to return to his alma mater.

“I’ve coached a lot of different places,” he said. “It’s nice to head back to a place that provided me a great education and gave me the opportunity to play at the college level.”

He is the only Champion High School boys basketball player to be named Trumbull County Player of the Year. He was recently inducted into the Champion High School Athletic Hall of Fame, as well as, Roberts Weslyen College Athletic Hall of Fame where he was a four-year starter on their basketball team.

Fitch previously served as head coach at Pymatuning Valley and Badger High School. He also was an assistant at Lakeview and Liberty.
