Fitch plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 4-2 win over Kent Roosevelt in the Division I Sectional Finals on Wednesday. It was the school’s first Sectional title since 2005.
Alex Corradi drove in a pair of runs for the Falcons, while Mercedes Pratt and Gabby Butcher finished with one RBI apiece in the victory. Cali Mikovich tallied a pair of singles in the win for Fitch.
Falcons head coach Melody Ward praised her team’s focus in the comeback.
“I’m very proud of this squad and how they came back and fought for the win in the 6th inning,” Ward said. “The team has accomplished so much, and, as a program, set many records thus far. There is something very special about this team and I look forward to seeing what they can do in the District Semi-finals,” she added.
Fitch improves to 18-7 overall and advances to face Stow Munroe Falls in the District Semi-finals Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Field of Dreams in Boardman.
