Youngstown native and television actor Ed O’Neill was in town Friday ahead of his appearance at commencement ceremonies at YSU on Saturday.
O’Neill was the featured guest at a reception held at the McDonough Museum at YSU and then a dinner at Bliss Hall.
The 67-year-old actor attended the event with his wife Catherine.
Money raised at the $250 a plate dinner will go to the College of Fine and Performing Arts.
“I had the opportunity with a colleague of mine at YSU, we were visitors with Ed O’Neill in Santa Monica and asked if he’d be interested in joining us this weekend and he agreed,” said Dean Bryan DePay, College of Fine and Performing Arts. “So, you see the results. A fantastic evening. It’s fantastic for Youngstown to have him back.”
O’Neill will be the featured speaker at the Spring Commencement at YSU on Saturday. He will also be awarded an honorary degree.
We will cover the commencement ceremonies and O’Neill’s presentation live here on website beginning at 10 a.m.
