20,000 weekend runners for Cleveland events

CLEVELAND (AP) — Twenty-thousand runners are participating in the Cleveland marathon and related races this weekend.

In addition to Sunday morning’s marathon, the weekend races include a half-marathon, 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer and Kid’s Run events.

The starting and finishing lines are located along downtown Cleveland’s Lake Erie waterfront.

Marathon officials say runners and spectators can expect to see security officers along the 26.2-mile marathon route.

The extra security was announced after the Boston Marathon bombings.

The normal Cleveland contingent of 350 to 400 security officers has been expanded with more bomb-sniffing dogs and security camera surveillance efforts.
