Man Charged After Punching Elderly Mother

A New Castle man was charged with assault after attacking elderly family members over a gardening dispute.

According to police reports, officers were called around 3:30 p.m. Saturday to a home on Falls Avenue in response to a domestic dispute outside the house.

Police arrested Jeffrey Cloyd Altman, 48, of New Castle and charged him with assault after he allegedly shoved his aunt and uncle, both in their early 70s, to the ground. He then punched his 72-year-old mother in the face.

The report stats Altman became angry with the couple and his mother over a gardening issue.

Bond was set at $5,000. He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
