Water Lines To Be Repaired

A state agency is giving Warren a low-interest loan to help improve more than two miles of deteriorating drinking water lines.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency provided a $1.8 million loan to the city  for repairs on the water lines on Youngstown Road, from Patchen Avenue to North Road, Willard Avenue, from E. Market Street to Youngstown Road, and Jeffersson Avenue, from Austin Avenue to Nevada Avenue.

The EPA said  in a statement the project will reduce the number of breaks and increase water pressure for customers using those lines.

The low interest rate provided by the EPA, through federal grants, is estimated to save the city $503,000 in interest on the 20-year loan.
