Jackson-Milton Wins District Slugfest

Jackson-Milton outlasted Mineral Ridge, 17-14, in the Division IV District Finals at Lisbon. With the win, the Blue Jays advance to the Division III Regional Semifinals. The two teams combined for a total of 31 hits.

Maddy Tomaino and Caitlyn Carney each drove in three runs in the win for Jackson-Milton. Tomaino finished with a pair of triples in the win. Gabby Tharpe also drove in a run with an RBI double.

Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge’s Peyton Allen drove in three runs and finished with a triple and a double. Allie Watkins homered and doubled, while Adrianna Reese added a triple of her own in the loss. Both finished with two RBIs.

Paije Kiraly picked up the win for the Blue Jays, striking out five without allowing a walk. Darby Kolesar suffered the loss, striking out five with just one walk.

The Blue Jays advance to play in the Division IV Regional Semifinals on Thursday, May 30 at 5 p.m. at Kent State University.
