The Western Reserve Port Authority Board voted unanimously to extend Executive Director Rose Ann DeLeon’s contract for 19 months.
According to a news release Wednesday, Deleon’s contract has been extended to December 31, 2014.
“I’m extremely pleased that Rose Ann will continue to lead our economic development efforts for the next 19 months,” WRPA Board President Scott Lynn said. “During her tenure as Executive Director she has succeeded in positioning the Port Authority as a ‘go-to’ economic development agency in our region.”
DeLeon said she was pleased by the Board’s decision and looked forward to continuing her work in the Mahoning Valley.
“The WRPA has an essential role to play in the drive to attract and retain businesses and jobs to our region,” Ms. DeLeon said. “That includes exploring every opportunity to maximize the positive impact our location atop the Marcellus Shale fields will have on our community in the years ahead.”
Under the terms of the extension, DeLeon’s compensation will continue at the same level and under the same conditions as her current contract.
After some controversy surrounding her salary, the board voted in November to extend Deleon’s contract for six months at a salary of $47,500.
Deleon used to be the highest paid public worker in Trumbull County earning $155,000 a year.
