The Havana House in Niles will open its new Wynwood Cigar Lounge on Friday.
To celebrate, the business will hold an art auction, with proceeds going to the Purple Cat. Owner Tony Bellatto said Havana House has been in Niles for several years, and his father has operated Havana House in Boardman for 38 years.
Bellatto said he has a friend with a cigar shop in Miami, where he makes his own cigars, noting a lot of cigars are now being made overseas in places like Nicaragua and Honduras.
Bellatto said he is trying to bring that Miami feel here and one of the things his friend is involved in is the Wynwood Art District in Miami, where local artists are invited to paint in the warehouse. The cigar lounge will feature artwork by local artists and beer and wine will be served.
One of the artists will be Aaron Chine of Warren, a local tattoo artist who recently painted murals at Austintown Fitch High School.
The grand opening event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday. Havana House is located in the Great East Plaza of the Eastwood Mall Complex.
