Kids Walk to Benefit Cancer Care Center

Students from Youngstown’s Harding Elementary hit the track Wednesday to raise awareness and money for cancer research.

It’s called the Rockin Race for Cancer and was hosted by the Rotary Club of Youngstown.

Students collected money for the amount of laps they could walk in 20 minutes at Rayen Stadium.

All proceeds will benefit the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.

“We hope that the money will go to help support women in the Valley who maybe won’t be able to afford their normal breast care exams, their mammograms, and if they need follow up treatments,” said Carol Sherman, Rotary Club of Youngstown. “Every penny raised the kids know is going to support a good cause.”

Aprroximately 500 students took part in Wednesday’s event.
