Dog-Gone Good Time Happening in Lawrence County

Dog Show

Lawrence County is going to the dogs this weekend.

Several kennel clubs, including the New Castle Kennel Club, Laurel Highlands Kennel Association and Trumbull County Kennel Club, are hosting the 16th annual Memorial Weekend Cluster Dog Show. The event started Thursday and runs through Monday at the Lawrence County Farm Show Grounds on Route 108 in New Castle.

Thousands of canines and their owners will take part, and there is also plenty of food and vendors to check out.

Organizers said the four-legged competitors came from all over the world.

“Dogs will be here from all over the country, California, Florida,” said Cluster Coordinator Jim Martin. “We’ll have dogs from out of the country, Brazil, places like that. We have handlers here from Brazil. We have handlers and judges from Canada here.”

The show runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $5 per carload.
