Most retailers have huge sales for the holidays and this Memorial Day is no exception.

One area that’s expected to see exceptional sales this weekend is the car industry.  Experts expect May vehicle sales to increase from Memorial Day specials.

Sweeney Buick GMC in Boardman doesn’t plan to miss out on any potential sales. It began its Memorial Day special at the start of the week. Managers believe the holiday specials could increase sales by 20 percent.

“Right now, total savings for instance on a GMC Sierra stacked with the Memorial Day bonus cash will take you over $12,000 on select units,” said Derek Snyder, Executive Manager, Sweeney Buick GMC.

Jeff and Clara Shurmer are looking for a second car. They didn’t realize they came to one of the best sales of the year.

“Extra incentives that you can take advantage of, you always wanna do that. And, this is the time that we needed to buy a car anyway. So, it’s really just being at the right place at the right time for us,” said Jeff Shurmer.

The Kelley Blue Book predicts new-car sales will hit 15 million in May from holiday sales.
