A man fell asleep behind the wheel, hit a telephone pole and ended up in a ditch.

It happened on South Main Street in Hubbard early Sunday morning.

The driver told police he had just gotten off from the night shift.

He was taken to Saint Elizabeth’s Health Center with minor injuries.

Hubbard City Electric had to be called in to work on the telephone pole, which was smoking because of the accident.
