1 Hospitalized in Boardman Crash

A man was taken to the hospital early Monday morning after crashing into a tree in Boardman.

Police were called around 12:30 a.m. to South Avenue, in front of Sam’s Club gas station, after a men crashed into a tree.

Officer’s said the driver crossed the center line, jumped the curb and hit the tree.

The airbag deployed.

Other drivers who witnessed the accident stopped to help.

“Witnesses told us the car went off the road here. It was one car, one occupant struck the tree off the road,” said Officer Paul Poulos, Boardman Police Department. “At this time we’re investigating it, but it appears that it was a medical condition that caused the crash.”

The man was talking with paramedics at the scene and was taken St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
