Employees of a Youngstown video store are reaching out to help those affected by the Oklahoma tornado.

Workers at Family Video on Midlothian Boulevard found out a Family Video location in Moore, Okla. was just a half-mile away from the path of last week’s deadly tornado. So they decided to collect cards, kind words and much-needed items to send to fellow Family Video employees and their families.

For the next couple weeks, they’re taking donations of personal hygiene items, pet food and treats, bottled water, snacks, toys and games for kids.

“Our hope is to get like a huge u-haul and just take it all down to Oklahoma, and just be able to unload it and be like, ‘hey, everybody in Youngstown, Ohio is thinking of you, we love you, we care about you, and we hope that everything can get rebuilt and that this only makes you stronger,'” said Family Video employee Kati Hartwig.

Items can be dropped off during business hours at the Family Video on Midlothian Boulevard.

For more information, call the store at 330-782-2072.
