Memorial Day Events Set in Area

Several communities have scheduled Memorial Day events this weekend and Monday.


Poland will hold its 41st annual Memorial Day parade and ceremonies on Monday. The opening ceremony honoring The Four Chaplains will be held at 9 a.m. at the War Memorial Building Post 15 Home, 35 Cortland St. That will be followed by the Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. and a full memorial service at Riverside Cemetery.

Boardman will hold its 109th Memorial Day parade and service on Monday. The parade begins at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a memorial service at Boardman Center Middle School.


A flag raising and wreath placement ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Girard City Cemetery.

The Trumbull County Memorial Day Federation will hold its annual wreath laying ceremony and memorial service at Perkins Park in Warren at 9:30 a.m. Monday. The parade will begin at 11:15 a.m.

A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Braceville Christian Church, followed by a parade at 11 a.m. featuring the LaBrae High School band and community groups. The parade begins at the township park and concludes at the cemetery, where there will be laying of wreaths, music and prayers.


The annual Mercer Memorial Day 500, one of the largest Memorial Day events in the area, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Mercer County Courthouse. The event will feature a free patriotic concert by Brett Allen Morgan, a 5K Freedom Fun Run, a military expo, parade and a memorial salute. For more information, visit the website at
