Gary Rhamy served as the grand marshal for the Boardman Memorial Day parade on Monday.
Rhamy served during the Vietnam era, from 1968 to 1970. He said before he was drafted, he did some research on the position of audio specialist because he was interested in radio and television production.
Once he graduated from basic training, he was assigned as a TV producer at Fort Knox, Ky., where he and his staff produced training films on everything from how to blow up a tank to how to build a flight of stairs.
After being discharged, Rhamy founded Peppermint Productions in 1971.
