Boardman Spartans
New Head Coach: Joe Ignazio
Former Head Coach: Mark D’Eramo
2012 Record: 4-6 (2-4), Federal League
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 25.5 (29th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 34.8 (57th in Area)
…The 1993 Spartan graduate served as an assistant for the past nine seasons. He has coached under Garry Smith, D.J. Ogilvie and Mark De’Eramo.

East Panthers
New Head Coach: P.J. Mays
Former Head Coach: Jim Vivo
2012 Record: 3-7
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 18.1 (47th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 25.9 (41st in Area)
…Mays will be the third head football coach at East in as many years. Mays was a standout running back for the East High Golden Bears where he played on the only team to compete in the playoffs (1997: 8-3). P.J. went onto become the Gateway Offensive Player of the Year in 2001 at YSU.

East Palestine Bulldogs
New Head Coach: Tony Foster
Former Head Coach: Gary Mattes
2012 Record: 2-8 (2-5), ITCL Upper Tier
2012 Points Scored: 14.6 (58th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed: 34.7 (56th in Area)
…Foster takes on his first head coaching gig. The Bulldogs’ defense allowed an average of 40.1 points per game in their eight losses.

Howland Tigers
New Head Coach: Dominic Menendez
Former Head Coach: Dick Angle
2012 Record: 8-3 (5-1), All-American Conference – American Division

2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 19.9 (21st in Area)
…For the past 15 seasons, the Howland Tigers were a consummate force in Division II. Led by their head coach Dick Angle, the Tigers advanced to the post-season nine times. In early March, Angle decided to step down. Enter longtime assistant Dominic Menendez, who was recommended by Angle, to take over control of the program.

LaBrae Vikings
New Head Coach: John Armeni
Former Head Coach: Bill Bohren
2012 Record: 1-9 (1-6), All-American Conference – National Division
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 20.6 (44th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 26.1 (42nd in Area)
…As a 2001 graduate of Chaney High School, Armeni learned from some of the greatest coaches in the area. Ron Berdis was his high school coach. He learned the trade from Mike Kopachy, where John was an assistant at Western Reserve and Salem. Finally, Armeni assisted Bill Bohren at LaBrae for the past two campaigns.

Laurel Spartans
New Head Coach: Pat Cuba
Former Head Coach: Jerry Holzhauser

2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 22.1 (26th in Area)
…Pat Cuba has lots of experience coaching in Lawrence County. He was most recently the head football coach at Neshannock (2007-11) and has prior experience at Westminster College.

Liberty Leopards
New Head Coach: Kevin Cylar
Former Head Coach: Brian Jones
2012 Record: 9-3 (6-1), All-American Conference – National Division
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 29.7 (17th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 24.0 (33rd in Area)
…The East High product served on the Ursuline coaching staff for the last eight years. Cylar honed his skills working under Dan Reardon and Larry Kempe.

Mineral Ridge Rams
New Head Coach: Doug Velasquez
Former Head Coach: Joe Stevens
2012 Record: 6-4 (5-2), ITCL Upper Tier
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 32.8 (11th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 33.4 (52nd in Area)
…Velasquez worked as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Boardman High School. Doug was named to the 1988 All-Ohio First-Team as a linebacker.

Reynolds Raiders
New Head Coach: Josh Mull
Former Head Coach: Jerry Pacifico
2012 Record: 6-4 (3-4), District 10 Region 3 (AA)
2012 Points Scored: 24.9 (34th)
2012 Points Allowed: 17.8 (13th in Area)
…Coach Jerry Pacifico, who resigned due to personal issues, changed the culture in 2012. Since 2006, the Raiders had accumulated a 6-53 record. One of Pacifico’s assistants, Josh Mull, will take over the position as head coach. Mull is a 1995 graduate of Pottsville High School but has been with the Raiders since 2004.

Sharon Tigers
New Head Coach: Jim Wildman
Former Head Coach: Bob Fromm
2012 Record: 1-9 (1-6), District 10 Region 3 (AA)
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 18.4 (46th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 31.8 (50th in Area)
…With a record of 208-76-6 in 25-years at Sharon, the ‘Wildman’ returns to take over the program in 2013. Coach Wildman won 8 District 10 championship and two appearances in the state title game (1994 & 1995).

Shenango Wildcats
New Head Coach: Mike Commesso
Former Head Coach: Ryan Mayo
2012 Record: 3-6 (2-6), WPIAL Section 2 (A)
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 15.4 (55th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 29.6 (45th in Area)
…Son of former Mohawk coach Lew Commesso, Mike has been in the coaching business for 18 years (Union, Mohawk, Hopewell). Commesso will try and revive the Shenango program.

Wellsville Tigers
New Head Coach: Rich Wright
Former Head Coach: Dave Skinner
2012 Record: 4-6 (2-5), ITCL Lower Tier
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 21.4 (42nd in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 31.7 (49th in Area)
…Coach Wright resigned from his position at Beaver Local following the 2011 season. Wright had amassed an 83-66 record in 14-years which included 6 post-season appearances.

West Middlesex Big Red
New Head Coach: Ed Roberson
Former Head Coach: Jason McElhaney
2012 Record: 10-3 (6-0), District 10 Region 1 (A)
2012 Points Scored Per Game: 33.5 (10th in Area)
2012 Points Allowed Per Game: 13.1 (2nd in Area)
…Roberson, a Sharon High School graduate, served as the defensive coordinator for West Middlesex under Jason McElhaney for the past four years. Roberson started at guard in the 1994 PIAA Class AAA Title tilt against Berwick.
