Police in New Search for Missing Pittsburgh Woman

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Allegheny County police are searching a wooded area near the county airport for the body of Alivia Kail, a 19-year-old woman who disappeared in 2011.

Police say in a release that the search is taking place Thursday morning and they plan to hold a press conference at 11 a.m.

Kail went missing in March 2011 and was last seen after telling friends she was going to Florida with her boyfriend. But the young woman’s cellphone was shut off and there was no proof that she ever made the trip.

Kail’s boyfriend was questioned by police and jailed for several weeks on unrelated drug charges, but he was never charged in connection with her disappearance.
