Mooney’s Season Comes to End

Cardinal Mooney’s baseball season has come to an end. The Cardinals were defeated by Akron Hoban, 14-4, on the Friday afternoon in the Division II Regional Finals.

Hoban took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st on RBI doubles by Austine Farber and Jordan Burns. Mooney cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom half of the inning when Drew Delsignore came home on a Drew Beck stolen base.

The Knights added two more runs in the 2nd on a passed ball and infield single, making it 4-1.

Mooney tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 2nd. Denver Martin scored on a Hoban error, making it 4-2, then Harrison Wagner scored on passed ball making it 4-3, and Ryan Megyesi tied the game at 4-4 on a Hoban error.

Mooney’s game collapsed in the 6th inning. The Cards had three errors that led to four runs. Hoban scored seven runs total in the 6th and added three more in the 7th for the 14-4 victory.

Cardinal Mooney ends its season at 21-8.
