Child’s body found in Ohio; mother arrested in Ky.

HILLSBORO, Ohio (AP) — Police say the body of a 1-year-old boy has been found in southwest Ohio and the child’s mother and her boyfriend were arrested in Kentucky.

According to Hillsboro police, a call was made Thursday to Richmond, Ky., police concerning a suspicious death of a child and the welfare of two other children in the same home.

The mother was taken into custody at work. Her boyfriend is believed to have fled the home but was later captured.

Through interviews, authorities were led to a wooded area near Hillsboro, about 60 miles east of Cincinnati, where 1-year-old Garin Niehaus’ remains were found on Friday. An autopsy will be performed.

Garin’s mother and her boyfriend face charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. They’re being held in the Madison County, Ky., jail.
