Youngstown fire crews were called out to battle a vacant structure fire, near the Youngstown State University campus just before 6 p.m. Saturday.

Flames and heavy smoke shot from the house on Grant Street, near Ford Avenue.

YSU campus police helped block the road and re-route traffic while firefighters worked to put the fire out.

It’s unclear whether or not the building is university-owned student housing, or a rental property, but it was vacant at the time of the fire.
