The Mustangs fall to Colonel Crawford, 3-0, in extra innings in the Regional Finals.
Sophomore pitcher Cheyenne Eggens struck out 16 batters and struck out the side four times in eight innings, but it wasn’t enough.
With two outs and runners on second and third in the top of the seventh, Eggens got her 16th strikeout. The ball got away from the catcher Jenna Siefert, but she chased it down and tossed the batter out heading to first to end the inning.

In the bottom half of the inning, Paula Sponsler was on third base with no outs for the Mustangs. Head coach Jim Nicula was trying to go with the suicide squeeze to end the game, when the ball got away from the catcher, but Sponsler held up and stayed at third. Next batter, Mathews went back to the squeeze, but Sponsler was tossed out at home.
The Eagles were able to force extra innings where they would score three runs in the top of the eighth and hold on to win the Regional Final, 3-0.
The Mustangs went 23-8 on the year.
