Philly-area residents warned to brace for storms

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Forecasters are warning residents of Philadelphia and surrounding counties in southeastern Pennsylvania that some severe weather may be on the way.

The National Weather Service says strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in the area late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night.

Forecasters said “very heavy rainfall could cause small stream and urban flooding.”

They said there is also some risk of severe thunderstorms in eastern Philadelphia with flooding of streams, and in northeast Pennsylvania “with damaging winds being the main threat.”
