Neshannock’s softball team bounced Elk County Catholic, 9-1, in the opening round of the Class A PIAA State Tournament.

The Lancers jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Alexandra Fischer and Madison Shaffer drilled back-to-back triples as Neshannock plated four runs.

Neshannock added a pair of runs in the 3rd, one run in the 4th, and two more in the fifth to bring the score to its final count.

Shaffer was tough on the mound going the distance and finishing with six strikeouts.

Neshannock improves to 18-2 overall.

The Lancers advance to face Claysburg Kimmel.
