Central Pa. DA rules man’s Oct. shooting justified

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (AP) — The county prosecutor says a man’s fatal shooting last fall by his father-in-law was a case of justifiable homicide.

Pennlive.com reported Monday (http://bit.ly/1aVVcOW ) that Clinton County District Attorney Michael Salisbury came to that conclusion in the October death of Robert Bittner Jr. in Renovo.

The new site says Bittner and his wife had been married six months when they went to the home of her father, Eugene Pizzino.

The couple had a domestic dispute that flared up after dinner. Salisbury says Bittner kicked in a locked door, ripped a phone from the wall, struck Pizzino and threw his wife to the floor.

The prosecutor says Pizzino shot Bittner after he was choking Jeanna Bittner. Robert Bittner died of a chest wound.
