Lancaster County Prison law library called lacking

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A man who served time for stealing library books has filed a lawsuit claiming the law library at the county prison lacks books.

Fifty-year-old Hans George Alexander says in his federal lawsuit that he wants $5 million for the pain and suffering he endured while in custody. He claims his 14th Amendment right to due process of law was violated.

Alexander served about five months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of library theft for taking books from the Lancaster County Courthouse law library in November 2011.

County solicitor Crystal Clark says the prison has had a law library since the 1970s for inmates to use.
