Police: Mom of kids found in Pa. meth lab charged

NESCOPECK, Pa. (AP) — Police in eastern Pennsylvania say the mother of three young children taken from a meth-lab trailer is now in prison facing drug charges.

Officers arrested 24-year-old Abby Burd of Mount Carmel after they say she had been supplying Sudafed, an ingredient used to make methamphetamine.

Authorities also saw one of the children toddling around the area of the Nescopeck home where the drug was being cooked.

Department of Children and Youth caseworkers say they discovered the alleged lab while they were investigating a report of drug activity at the home.

Police have not yet received the results of medical tests conducted on the three children to determine their exposure to the drug.

Burd faces reckless endangerment and drug charges. She remains in Columbia County in lieu of $75,000 bail.
