A group of local sixth graders got to travel the world Monday, but they didn’t need to leave school to do it.
Students at South Range Elementary School in Canfield put on their annual World’s Fair. Each group of students represented a country of their choice, dressing in native attire and presenting cultural foods and historical facts.
Teachers said that not only is the program a great way to learn about the world, but it creates a sense of competition.
“The kids love it. They have a great time. The neat things is we have kids that come from the high school and they always look for the country they did in sixth grade to see how well the kids did. It is all extra credit,” said teacher Mike Sobota.
Thirty-four different countries were represented at the fair.
