A Boardman woman told police she fatally stabbed her boyfriend after she caught him in bed with a neighbor.
Tequila M. Haskins, 28, of 812 Moyer Ave., told police she fatally stabbed Brian E. Tubbs at about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday after she confronted Tubbs about him being naked with another woman inside their home.
Haskins told police Tubbs “went after her” and she stabbed him, reports said.
Police filed murder charges against Haskins, an employee of Hampton Woods Nursing Center in Poland, on Wednesday. She is scheduled for an initial appearance Thursday in Mahoning County Boardman Area Court.
Haskins, reports said, stabbed Tubbs, 28, in the arm, chest and throat. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center where he died.
Reports said when officers arrived Haskins yelled “I stabbed him and he’s not breathing.” Officers noted Haskins’ hands were covered in blood. Investigators found Tubbs in a second-floor bedroom with only a tank top covered in blood, with blood on the floor and walls.
Officers found a bloody knife in an adjacent bedroom, which reports said Haskins told officers she used to stab Tubbs.
Reports said a family member took custody of Haskins’ two children, who were a few apartments away from the home at the time of the stabbing.
Officers reported Tubbs’ family members arrived at the home and were emotional, asking who was responsible for the killing.
After learning Tubbs died and that she was charged with murder, reports said Haskins told officers she felt like she was going to pass out. Officers called an ambulance, but Haskins refused medical attention.
